GST not adding correctly!

Anyone else having issues with the GST calculation since the update with the App?
I’ve checked to ensure the GST is set up correctly, and I’ve changed the invoice settings to reflect GST Inc however the invoices are not reflecting the changes and the GST component is not adding up correctly. HELLLLLP PLEASE !

  • Hi there!

    We are here to help!

I can see you have reached out via the digital assistant, so just to recap what Margarita shared with you in your private message, in case anyone else following along finds it helpful too!

If you want an item to cost a total of $100 including GST, you’ll need to enter it as $90.91, Solo will automatically calculate and add the GST for you.
To work it out manually, divide the total amount by 11 to find the GST portion ($100 ÷ 11 = $9.09), then subtract that from the total.

Also, just a heads-up, the inclusive/exclusive setting in Solo only controls how GST is displayed on the invoice. It doesn’t change the way Solo calculates it behind the scenes.

Let us know if this solves the issue you are experiencing, if not, then we'll jump right in and save the day!

Why would you make this change, as opposed to it being optional?

I would simply like to add a price that is (for instance) $5000 inclusive of GST.  The app would then calculate the GST payable.  Has this option now been removed and you're telling us to calculate each invoice ..

"To work it out manually, divide the total amount by 11 to find the GST portion ($100 ÷ 11 = $9.09), then subtract that from the total".

This has been implemented just a week or so ago?

    Thanks for the consideration, Andy

  • Hey Andy11 GST exclusive pricing was one of the most requested features from our Solmates so we made it happen! Now that it's live, we've heard loud and clear that flexibility matters, so our product team are working on a way to let you choose between inclusive and exclusive. Watch this space 👀

  • Please fix this! I can't keep producing invoices that round to 99.99 it's frustrating my customers !!

    Hey daaaniel

Thanks for reaching out. We totally get how annoying it is to be even one cent out, especially when everything else looks spot on.

What’s going on here is all to do with how numbers are crunched behind the scenes. While you’re seeing amounts rounded to two decimal places, the system can be working with up to six to keep things accurate.

    For example:
    Add 10.555555 + 10.588888 and you get 21.144443.
But round each to two decimal places first and it becomes:
    10.56 + 10.59 = 21.15

This isn't something unique to Solo, but we know it’s frustrating. We've already passed it on to our developers to see if there’s something we can do to make it better. 💜
