problems with matching bank feed transaction

My process is

Someone make a credit card purchase

They send me the invoice via 'capture'

I create a 'spend money' transaction

Several days later the bank clears the purchase, and it appears in the bank feed

I can't match the bank feed to the spend money transaction as the dates don't match

I manually go back to the spend money transaction and change the date

The match of bank feed can now occur.

 

This can't be normal for an accounting program that is meant to be easy to use.

 

How can I match the transaction without manually altering the date of the spend money.?

The date on the original spend money was the date the spend occurred. I need this date to be accurate so I know who/when made the original purchase.

    Hi apeter 

     

    Thanks for your post. It is possible to match transactions with a different date to the bank feed transaction. If your Spend money transactions are not listed when you click on Match transaction change the Show filter to All transactions.

     

     

    If you continue to have trouble with this please provide screenshots of the Bank transactions window and the Spend money transaction. Make sure sensitive information is removed from screenshots before posting on the Forum.

      Hi Tracy,

      It has taken a bit before I got another transaction to match, so sorry for the delay. I can't implement the suggestion you made. My 'show filter' already has 'all transactions'

      I have attached a screen shot. The left side shows the bank feed, and the transaction I am trying to match ($4.99, feed date 14jan). The right side shows the 'spend money transaction'. with the date as spent (12jan)

      MYOB can't find a match.

      If I manually edit the spend money (in this case SM no 154), and change the date to the 14th Jan, then the bank feed match will be able to find the transaction.

       

      I don't understand what is happening. I don't want to have to manually edit each transaction to find a match. It defeats the purpose.

        Hi apeter 

         

        Can you go to Banking>>Reconcile accounts and check if that Spend money transaction is ticked. If it is, untick it and it should appear for matching in Bank transactions.

         

        Let me know how you go.
