MYOB Business: Something went wrong [Multiple Files]

Hi Community

Is anyone else running into this? I usually work on up to 10 entities at once, but since yesterday I keep getting the “Something went wrong” window whenever I try to have more than two businesses open.

I had payroll yesterday for over 100 staff spread across six entities which are part of the same company, and it took me three times as long because I had to process them one by one.  Usually, I process all entities at the same time.

I've already done the usual self-checks.  Clear cache, try a different browser, etc.  But it's happening on different computers, so I know it's not me.

Has MYOB quietly put a limit in place on how many businesses you can have open at once? Maybe some kind of cap on concurrent sessions or server actions to save on hosting/licensing costs? If that’s the case, did I miss an announcement about it?

Would be good to know if this is a new restriction or just a glitch.

Cheers

  • Hi Durkin,

That's a rough time to hit errors, especially mid‑payroll across multiple entities. Given you usually have up to 10 files open at once, it does sound like a temporary glitch. When lots of files are open and you’re running payroll, a session or load hiccup can trigger the “Something went wrong” window. I know you’ve already done the usual self‑checks, but try logging out of each file and logging back in to see if it helps. If it keeps happening, reaching out to our team is the best next step so we can dig into the logs and figure out what’s causing it.

    Cheers,

    Hi Princess_R

It's not during any processing.  It's on the initial start up.  I just logged out and back in, then tried to open six files from the My Businesses landing page.  I was able to open three this time.  The rest have the 'Something went wrong' error.

They just won't open in the first place.  Given I've tested this with multiple computers from different locations, I'm going to say that this is an MYOB issue; not mine.  Which is why I was asking the Community if it was happening to anyone else.

I'd love to call support, but every time I do it takes out about half of my day to get through and nothing gets resolved.  And lodging a ticket just gets the boiler plate response of how about trying the things I've already tried, then 'we need more information.'  I'd call my Partner Manager,  but she doesn't answer my phone calls and only contacts me when she's trying to sell something.

Any chance you could just check with your Dev/IT Department if they've implemented service action restrictions please?

Am I going to get an answer to my query?  Another payday and I'm still getting the same errors.  On different computers and different browsers.  Some files won't even open anymore.

This is poor service and even worse support.  I don't want the everyday lip service response.  It's a simple Yes or No question.

So, I'll ask once again......... have MYOB implemented service action restrictions?

    Hi Durkin

I understand your concern. There aren’t any restrictions on how many businesses you can have open at once. To verify, I replicated this in Chrome by opening ten different business files via the My Businesses menu and did not encounter the same error.

I still recommend reaching out to our support team, as the error you’re seeing may be specific to one of the files you’re opening. You can create a support ticket on MyAccount window or start a live chat through MOCA, our virtual assistant.

    Hi Genreve_S

I got a response back from support, which, as expected, looks like they just winged it.  They even admitted there are server access limits, which would be a new thing.

    See attached.

Any other ideas on how to get this resolved?  Because I'm not going to work on one file at a time when I'm in front of three monitors and constantly journaling across different inter entity accounts and performaning bulk tasks like preparing Payroll Tax, Payroll, IAS, or Accounts Payable for the week.
