salary sacrifice included at Gross wages for W1 on BAS

Hi all,

Not sure if already dealty with, but on the BAS at W1 Gross Wages - salary sacrifice amounts (after tax or RESC amounts) should not be included.  First is this correct?

Secondly on the Payroll Activity  & payroll register reports by employee from AccountRight and MYOB Business Account right Plus - is the salary sacrifice amount deducted from the Gross wages amount?

I dont believe it is.  If this is the case which report can we use that lists the employees and details the correct gross wage (if salary sacrifice) is used?  this also is required to reconcile for STP and for the amount report at W1 on the BAS.

thank you

    Hi Dlmad

Thank you for posting and letting us know your concern.

It is as gavin12345 has mentioned. Depending on how the salary sacrifice was set up will determine what would be included in certain reports. If you think the figures are incorrect you can manually edit the amounts. Also, we can look into this further. Please send us a private message containing the following:

  • Hi Dlmad

The reporting rules for Salary sacrifice differ between STP and Activity statements as they serve 2 very different purposes. The Income reported at W1 on the Activity statement should be post salary sacrifice (so the salary sacrifice amount is not included). However for STP, the Gross amount on the Income Statement should be the pre-salary sacrifice amount. The Salary Sacrifice amount is reported as well, and the ATO will deduct this on the Income Statement when they calculate the Total Gross amount. The purpose is for the ATO and Centrelink etc to determine the overall earnings of an employee, as well as allow them to calculate whether the reported Super Guarantee amounts are correct.

If in doubt do an internet search on 'ato w1 salary sacrifice' and see what comes up.

If set up as per the MYOB Salary Sacrifice instructions, in AccountRight the Wages on the Register Summary report is the Pre Salary Sacrifice gross and the salary sacrifice appears in the Deductions column.

However there are many ways to set salary sacrifice up in MYOB and how you set it up will determine what MYOB includes in various reported amounts.

    Regards

    Gavin

        Thank you

the salary sacrifice does not get deducted off the W1 for BAS purposes as it has been set up as a pre taxed amount so set up a deduction.

the STP reporting is all correct as all my items matched with the verification report.

Just need to ensure for BAS reporting to deduct from W1.
