General Ledger out of balance

my general ledger is out of balance. Item has been located, it is not on bank statement (Bank reconciles), how do i remove the extra item in general ledger, and how did it get there in the first place?

Sounds like your general ledger is out of balance because of that transaction you mentioned. That usually happens when there’s a transaction sitting in the bank account in your ledger that never actually went through the bank.

Here’s a quick way to sort it out in MYOB Business:

    • Go to Reporting > Accounting > General ledger (or General ledger details).
    • Filter to just that bank account and the problem dates.
    • Compare it to your bank statement and find anything that’s in the report but not on the statement.

    For that transaction:

    • If it’s not reconciled, open it and edit or delete it.
    • If it has been reconciled:
      • Go to Banking > Reconcile accounts.
      • Choose the bank account and click Undo last reconciliation.
      • Fix or delete the transaction.
      • Then re‑reconcile using your bank statement.

That should bring your general ledger back in line with the bank. If you’re still having issues after comparing and fixing those transactions, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can take a deeper look. You can do this by creating a ticket in My Account or by connecting with our live chat team through MOCA, our virtual assistant.
