report for personal contacts

I have 2 personal contact entries that are the same person, so I want to delete one. When I try, MYOB tells me both have transactions recorded, so cannot be deleted.

How do I get a list of all transactions recorded against a particular personal contact?

  • Hi apeter - thanks for your question.

If you have an MYOB AccountRight subscription (which allows you to access your file in a web browser as well as the AccountRight desktop software), you can combine contacts using your AccountRight software. Here's a help topic all about it: Combining cards.

If this isn't possible, can you confirm what type of transactions you've recorded against personal contacts?

      Hello Adrian,

I have a myob business subscription, and cant see the card file command.

I am not sure what the transactions recorded against the two personal contacts are - that is what I am trying to find. We have a member 'john' who is also known as 'jack'. Someone has created 2 different contacts for the same person. I want to change the transactions on the wrong name  to the correct name, and delete the wrong contact.

    Hi apeter ,

In addition to this, you can only delete a card if it has never been used in a transaction. If it has been used, you will not be able to delete it, even after deleting any associated transactions. This ensures that you maintain a history of records used in transactions for auditing reports. As an alternative solution, you can deactivate the card or combine it with another record to remove it from your lists. Please see this help page for more information.
