How to link barcode scanner input to the correct item in MYOB AccountRight?

Hi MYOB Community,

I’m currently using MYOB AccountRight desktop version, and I have a Netum DS2800 barcode scanner (USB and Bluetooth capable).

I’d like to scan product barcodes during sales or inventory entry, and have MYOB automatically identify and load the correct item based on the barcode (e.g. show product name, price, etc.).

I’ve tested the scanner — it works fine and inputs the barcode value into the field (like a keyboard). However, MYOB doesn’t seem to recognize the barcode and doesn’t link it to the item. It only works if I scan something that matches the Item Number.

My questions:

• Is there a proper barcode field in MYOB AccountRight that I can use for scanning items?
• Can I use a barcode that is different from the Item Number, and still have MYOB recognize it?
• If not, what’s the best practice for barcode scanning in AccountRight — should I set the barcode as the Item Number?
• Is there any support for scanning into a Custom Field or using the Barcode field during sales/inventory operations?

Any advice or best practice from other users would be really appreciated!
