Inventory help

Hi

We are a large landscaping business who want to start using the inventory  center to better track items.

For example we purchase a large quantity of soil or mulch and have it delivered to our yard.  That then sits here and then gets loaded and taken to multiple job sites.  So I need to be able to draw down on the original purchase and enter it to a certain job number so it gets charged out.  I have played around with it but am unsure what to do when it will need to be split between lots of different job numbers

Thanks in advance

    Hi Bcgarden,

Great question, inventory is a good fit for how you’re working.

Because Job numbers are applied per line item, you can’t split a single line across multiple jobs. Instead, you’ll need to use multiple lines with the same item. For example, enter SOIL on one line with the quantity going to Job 101, then add another SOIL line for the quantity going to Job 102, each with its own Job number.

If the original transaction can’t be edited, use separate transactions or inventory adjustments for each job, with the item and quantity on each line coded to the correct Job.
