MYOB Business Insights – Incorrect Income Data
The issue can be reproduced as follows:
Navigation:
Home → View Insights → Dive into Details → What is Changing → Income → More Details
Within the Income analysis, MYOB Business Insights is showing a substantially high-value quote as one of the main sources of income for the month.
This is incorrect.
The transaction concerned was created as a quote only. It was never converted into an invoice and therefore did not generate any actual or recognised business income.
Despite this, the Business Insights tool appears to be including the value of the quote in its income calculations and is presenting it as though it were actual income received or invoiced during the month.
This results in the monthly income analysis being materially overstated and gives a false representation of the business's financial performance.
The issue is particularly concerning because the information is being presented as a financial insight rather than clearly identified as pipeline, quote value, potential sales, or forecast revenue. A user relying on the Business Insights information could reasonably believe the amount represents actual business income.
Expected behaviour:
Quotes that have not been converted into invoices should not be included in actual income or revenue analysis.
If MYOB wishes to analyse quote activity, it should be reported separately and clearly identified as quoted or potential revenue.
Actual behaviour:
An unconverted quote is being included in the Income section and identified as a major source of income for the relevant month.
Please investigate whether the Business Insights feature is incorrectly pulling quote data into its income calculations.
I would also like confirmation of exactly which MYOB transaction types and data sources are currently used by Business Insights when calculating and presenting "Income", as this raises concerns about the reliability of the other financial insights being generated by the tool.
