Try entering it as an order by going into your purchase register
select order tab
new order
enter and record
convert to invoice when goods arrive

That is the standard process you are referring to.
If I do that the stock quantity is automatically adjusted. That's exactly what I don't want.
I need to change the order to an invoice, without the stock being amended, because it arrives at a later stage only. So, what I am asking for is that the stock level is amended by the actual arrival date and not by the invoice date. There can be up to 120 days between the invoice being raised by our supplier and our goods actually arriving.
That is something that would help us greatly.
If the goods haven't arrived leave it as an order
if I understand you the inventory changes only when you convert to an invoice? Is that correct?
then I am suggesting that you leave as an order and convert when the stock actually arrives
Unless there is an accounting reason to convert earlier.
the only other suggestion is to change to backorder when you convert the invoicehope these ideas may help
