Items List Last Cost being rounded to two decimal places?

In the Items List Is there any way of showing more than two decimal places?

Many of our parts require 3 or more decimal places for the item cost (eg $0.00224), however MYOB seems to round them off to two decimal places which for many items shows item Last Cost of $0.00.

See below

I export the list to Excel for stocktake purposes (right click-copy to clipboard - paste into Excel), and in the past 10 years the Last Cost in the exported file shows the correct Last Cost. But this year the exported file is also rounded to two decimal places.

The same occurs using Purchase Report-Item Details with advanced filters showing Last Cost

Help!

Thanks in advance

    Hi rnik,

Thanks for following up, I can understand why that’d be confusing when you’re trying to rely on those values for reporting.

From what we’ve seen, the Last Cost shown in the overall Items List and in the Purchases [Item Detail] report can round to two decimal places, so very small values may appear as $0.00 or $0.01 even when the item record itself shows a more precise last purchase price. Based on that, exporting that list/report to Excel wouldn’t be expected to return a more precise non-rounded value if the source view is already rounded.

At this stage, there doesn’t appear to be a standard setting in AccountRight to increase the decimal places shown in those views. If you need exact precision for those low-value items, the best next step would be to raise it with support so they can confirm whether there’s any product-side fix or enhancement path available for your file. You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Thank you for the response.

Alternatively, is there any way to produce an items list with item last cost that reflects what is shown in the item description?

eg, Should exporting the Item List to Excel include an accurate non-rounded item last cost ?

The Last Cost in a Item detail purchase report is also rounded, surely example below should show $0.006 rather than $0.01 which is 66% more per item

    Hi rnik

I understand why that looks confusing if it only shows 2 decimal places instead of the full exact value. AccountRight does store the full item cost, but the software is designed to show only two decimal places in most windows.

That’s why the item can show a Last Purchase Price of $0.002243, while the Last Cost column in the Items List shows $0.00 for the same item.

To answer your question, there isn't really an option to show it in the item list window. There isn’t a setting in the Items List to show more decimal places in that column.

If you like, you can post this on the Ideas Exchange board for other users to vote on, and the dev team can gauge interest in that change.
