This link: Clear AccountRight cache has instructions on clearing the cache and it will work on local files too. Please try following the steps and let me know how you go on.

I have cleared the cache when upgrading to the latest version 2022.3, but still having the problem. The system is creating two payments on a sale one after the other still. We have a lot of transactions a day, and it happens at least one or two times each day still.

In that case, can you please take a screenshot of the History window of the payments for one such invoice and send it by Private message so we can investigate what's causing this.
