I get how handy it'd be to remove those 0 values from the recurring purchase for what you need. Right now, the system doesn't automatically remove those line items. You might want to share this idea on the Ideas Exchange board so it can be considered for future updates.
Don't hesitate on creating a new thread if you need any other help.
