Hi AngieYoung,
Thanks for your post and the screenshot you've shared. When it's clear that a debt won't be paid, it's time to write it off. You should have a 'Bad Debt' expense account in your company file where you can allocate these amounts. If you use a provision to account for bad debts, you can use AccountRight's 'Provision for Bad Debts' asset account. If it is giving you a negative balance due, I would suggest checking the details and instructions in this article about writing off bad debts.

Thanks Shella for your reply but my issue is not with bad debt issues but with the balance of 0.0036 which I can not clear down

Hi AngieYoung,
I appreciate your prompt response. It's advisable to review the invoice transaction to confirm if a partial payment has been made. For transactions that are already recorded, reviewing them will display the impact of the transaction when it was recorded. You can use the Transaction Journal, accessible from the Command Center, to examine the details of recorded transactions. For more information, refer to this shared article about reviewing transactions.

Hi Shella, All transactions look OK but still have this inbalance -0.0036 or if I reduce the payment by 1cent is show owing balance of +0.0036. I can not clear this.
The only way I feel this could have occured is that as it's from a foreign currency covertion GBP-AUD using the MYOB calculator this is embedded in the software convertion, I didn't expect MYOB to allow more than 2 decimal points in any money value

Hi AngieYoung,
Thanks for your patience. I understand that foreign currency conversions in MYOB can be a bit complex. These conversions are automated and adjust according to live exchange rates, ensuring your transactions are up-to-date. However, due to the nature of these conversions, the system might sometimes allow values with more than 2 decimal points, which could cause the imbalance you're noticing.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:
- Review the transaction details and ensure that all the information is entered correctly.
- Check the currency conversion rate used in the transaction. If the rate is incorrect, it could cause a balance discrepancy.
If the issue still persists after going through this checking, I would highly recommend visiting our help sites like myob.com/support or myaccount.myob.com to find MOCA, our virtual assistant. Use MOCA for immediate queries and assistance. If MOCA can't help, you'll be automatically directed to our live chat team, which has the tools to investigate this further.
