MYOB developers decided you cannot change the default to 0. Under Setup > General Payroll Information you can set this to 0.01 but not 0.
On the employees Wages tab the minimum hours is 0.01. However you can set the actual hours to 0.00 on the Standard Pays tab of the employee. And this seems to save.
If you set the defaults to 0.01, this reduces the risk of forgetting to adjust on the Standard pays screen for a new employee. 0.01 will stand out more than 76.

Thank you for getting back to us.
My apologies for my initial response, as I provided the process on how to change the hourly rate instead of base hourly rate. I agree with gavin12345, you are unable to change it to 0 as the minimum wage hours is set to 0.01. You can only adjust the employee's real hours to 0.00 in the Standard Pays tab.

Would love to get the reason MYOB has put this restriction on. Couple of times I have missed changing it and overpaid someone. Very annoying.

In my exploration, I've found that while you can adjust the hourly rate and default hours within the pay cycle to different values, the software prevents setting them to zero, issuing an error message: "The hours in the (pay cycle) pay period must be greater than zero." You'll need to enter 0.01 to zero out the hours worked in the standard pay. It's important to double-check the standard pay section to ensure the accuracy of any changes made before proceeding with a pay run. This precaution helps to avoid any potential errors and ensures smooth payroll processing.
