If you were wanting to merge payroll categories and they are the exact same, the only way I would know how to do this would be to transfer the YTD totals (hours & $) from 1 category to the other with a payroll adjustment, similar to the steps in the Adjusting leave entitlements help article. However, you would be transferring the YTD $ figure AND the YTD hours by placing a negative total hours and $ in the payroll category you're transferring from, and a positive figure in the payroll category you're transferring to. The net pay should then zero out and balance, and no super or PAYG should be calculated

Thank you for the suggestion, however that won't work as there is last year data as well. Even if the payroll category isn't used over financial years, it isn't removed from the employees timesheets.
Can this be recommended as an improvement? Much like General Ledger accounts can be merged, this would be a handy inclusion.
