Payday super - MYOB update?

Is there an update on this functionality in MYOB.

We currently don't have an update regarding the payday super changes. Rest assured, once we have more information, we will post it. In the meantime, if you're unsure about any details since this is related to STP reporting requirements, you can reach out to the ATO for more information.

Hi, it would be good if you could streamline the superannuation authorisation and payment process.  We pay weekly, and it will be nice if I didn't need to login an additional 2 times for super payment and authorisation plus 2FA on top.  It is an onerous process at the moment to do monthly, let alone weekly.

Things are rolling along with Payday Super—it’s a big one! The legislation's still in progress, but the groundwork on changes to workflows and compliance is ongoing. MYOB’s focused on getting everything streamlined, so businesses can hit their super obligations without a fuss when it kicks off. Rest assured, once we have more information, we will post it.

Hi Sheila, Re: comment form SandyMW is what I am grappling with. We also pay weekly and I understand that you can future date the payroll run, but not the super payment. As I understand that it will be paid when you run the payroll. For eg: If I were to run 3 weeks of payroll in advance, you have to pay the super for the 3 weeks in one hit on the date you run the payroll. Is this correct?

That’s not quite how it works. You can let super process on your pay date if you want, but you’ve also got the option to authorise it later, up to you.

Thanks for your reply. Your solution requires logging in each week to authorize payment. In general, most small business will have only one bookkeeper. It would be inappropriate to have the expectation for them to work, whilst away on extended personal leave. Also, the second authority person could also be away. So, will MYOB have a function where this could be streamline, where only authorize once and super will be paid accordingly each week? thanks

Totally get where you’re coming from. Fair call that weekly authorise isn’t ideal if the bookkeeper’s on leave and a second authorizer is away. Setting up a delegate/backup authoriser while someone’s away the best workaround. You can check this link about adding a pay super payment authorizer for more details.

Hi Sheila,

Totally get where you're are coming from, but this added certain security risks and other complication for small businesses. For example: too many hands involved in the management of the accounts/books.   

Perhaps MYOB can look seriously into this and would be able to streamline this conundrum. I believe there will be other businesses facing this situation. Thanks

You’re on point with that! Having one‑off authorisation for super to roll out each week would make life easier, but we’ve got to balance it with security and the reality that lots of hands touch the books in small biz. Best to pop it on our ideas board for feature consideration so others who reckon it’d help their business can vote it up too.
