Payroll Activation

Hi Im preparing to switch to MYOB payroll from the 1/7/2026. I'm currently using a dedicated payroll provider. I've activated MYOB in access manager so currently have both software providers active. Can i still enter payroll info in MYOB Account right until June 30 but use the other payroll provider to lodge the STP info?

I was just wanting to have MYOB up and running and right to start from the 1/7. I didnt want to switch now and have the 2 providers used in 25-26.

    Hi JohnCL,

Thanks for checking first. If you’re planning to fully start using MYOB AccountRight from 1/7/2026, it’s generally better to start recording payroll in MYOB from the new financial year, rather than entering pay runs in MYOB now while still lodging STP through your current payroll provider. That’s because before you can process a pay run in AccountRight, you’ll need to set up STP in the file. Once STP is set up in MYOB, it creates a new BMS ID. If payroll has already been reported to the ATO from your other payroll software for the 2025–26 year, using MYOB STP as well can cause duplicate year-to-date/pay run reporting in the ATO records.

So the safest option is to:

    • keep using your current payroll provider for all payroll and STP reporting up to 30 June 2026
    • then start fresh in MYOB AccountRight from 1 July 2026

This helps keep the 2025–26 payroll year with one STP provider only and avoids any duplication issues.

    Regards,

    Sai
