Payroll STP2

Why do all of our company files have to go online for STP2.  We only want to have payroll only online.

I have a few clients who state that they only Payroll online not their books.  Please advise.

  • Hi WTF12

This can only be done if payroll is in a separate file. Some users create a file for payroll only. MYOB also have some payroll only products. These are options for those who don't want to or can't put their AR2023 file online, however you then need to update your accounting records with a general journal to reflect the payroll transactions.

Another option would be to use a program called STP Creator - this was developed specifically for MYOB company files (offline) and works with v19 and AR2023. It is not free and cost is around $110 for up to 4 employees or around $220 for up to 20 employees.

After processing payroll in MYOB (without needing to sign into MYOB's Payroll Reporting centre), you run STP Creator, this extratcs the current payroll data and prepares the STP Report as required by the ATO.  The software is quite flexible and importantly shows you exactly what it is sending to the ATO BEFORE you send, so you can abort before sending if something is not right - this is not available in MYOB's STP.

Some bookkeepers use STP Creator once a year just to correct reporting errors they can't correct in their existing STP software.

        Hi WTF12

STP Creator is not a MYOB product. It is developed by a different company - do an internet search using your favourite browser and you will find it. Else send me an email.
