Hi Naomi8,
What you’re seeing will usually come down to how that original employee’s extra super has been set up compared to the others.
The original employee is using a Salary sacrifice (deduction) super pay item, so their extra super is coming off gross wages, and The new employees are using an Employee additional or Employer additional super pay item, so their extra super is not reducing gross wages.
To compare and align the setup:
- Go to Payroll > Pay items > Superannuation.
- Open the super pay item linked to the original employee and check the Contribution type (e.g. Salary sacrifice (deduction) vs Employee additional / Employer additional).
- Open the super pay items used by the other employees and check which Contribution type they’re using.
- Based on your accountant’s advice (“it should not be coming off gross”), you’ll likely want that first employee using the same Contribution type and pay item as the others, rather than a salary sacrifice‑type item.
