Emergency Contact

It would be good to opt out of collecting empegency contact details when onboarding employees. This information is already collected when our employees complete inductions, having it in the MYOB inboarding is forcing them to complete the same information twice.

  • Hi, I know I am coming in on this discussion a little late, however personally I would not like the emergency contact section to be changed to 'opt out'  in the myob employee onboarding process.

    While I can see for some companies that may be large enough to have a comprehensive new employee induction in place, (or just well organised enough to have one, fgfadmin​ - well done!) I feel there are a lot of smaller businesses who don't have comprehensive inductions where this information might be gathered.  Therefore I think myob factoring in an 'opt out' approach for emergency contacts could lead to this vital information not being collected.  This could happen if the employee is in a rush when completing the forms and 'opts out' intending to complete it later but never does.

    There is also the possibility that if this information is only collected manually, that it may not be entered, or it may be entered incorrectly, for example, the person responsible for entering it could be away, or it might accidentally be filed prior to it being entered, or as mentioned, errors could occur during transposing manually written forms into the digital records.  Handwritten numbers, such as essential phone numbers, can easily be mistaken.  May I put forward an idea that may lead to a solution to your particular case? Would it be possible for you to remove the emergency contacts section from your own in-house induction process?  This would still remove the duplication of having new employees complete the emergency contacts twice as you point out, while allowing other myob users to retain the feature as compulsory ensuring this data is captured?

    I must say I really love the comprehensive automation of the onboarding process myob have introduced, and the feedback I have had from new employees has been quite positive.  A big shout out to the myob team for automating this time-saving process.  Thank you to all for respectfully considering my opinion as I do yours.
