Removing Cheque #

Is removal of cheque # under consideration.  I noticed this was raised 3 years ago and nothing has changed.  Could a drop down box option be implemented for the user to choose, for example, one of the following: 

EFT

D/D

Chq

Wages

 

OR

 

In the set up screen have the facility to pick one of the above listed as the default.
