Hi Mike MYOB is leaving us ALL without a workable backup solution. We have always done daily if not twice daily backups now we have to contend with:-
(The server backups we would provide via support, will also not be able to be opened *for now. We are looking into possible solutions for this.
As AccountRight is online only going forward, an offline backup, could only be opened using a subscription.)
MYOB is being another Telstra No Comms and we all suffer.
MYOB we do not want to rely on the cloud and just for the record the Priority support line is not working as it took seven (7) Days to get a response and that was after being on the Support for more than 3 Hours. My MD Was fuming.
Mike we need better than this.
Appreciate your valued input when do we get the feed back on results moving forward.
We also don't like MYOB pushing updates without giving us a chance to keep our current systems working Ie Version 2026. 17th June 2026 with local backups still working.
Reverse engineer to that version internally and let us have what was working returned.

Hi PhilT1 ,
This doesnt change the fact that we are looking into future changes to how our online software operates when it comes to export/import of data.
But you do still have a workable backup solution.
The online backups are taking automatically once every 7 days AND you can still manually take a point in time backup at any time.
If you wanted to do a manual cloud backup once or twice a day, you can still do this.
You can then open a backed up copy of your company file by going to (File menu > Restore)

Hi Mike
My understanding is that the MYOB online backup is only retained for six months, after which it is deleted by MYOB.
Our standard internal practice is to keep a MYOB backup for each finalised financial year, as well as a backup for each payroll year.
The solution is straightforward: either allow subscribers to download their online backups, or reinstate the option for subscribers to create offline backups. This would enable businesses to retain their records in accordance with their own record-keeping policies.

Hi Manita , you're correct that the online backups are currently only retained for 6 months.
This is being reviewed alongside other possible changes we could make based on customer feedback for the removal of offline backups.
However, the old process of taking a backup every payroll or financial year should be based on how some of our legacy software operated.
Older versions of AccountRight would previously have locked older financial years, and in some cases purge data after 2 years. This has not been the case for a long time now though.
While you have an active subscription, you have access to al historical data in the file.
The online backups exist as a means to 'undo' recent changes in the file if mistakes have been made and you need to restore back to a previous point in time.
When closing a business or cancelling a subscription, this is when you need to consider how you will retain your records.
Right now the options available here are a low cost read only subscription, downloading data via report packs, or requesting a server backup retrieval.
When subscriptions are cancelled, a final backup is taken by MYOB and retained for 1 year.
As mentioned though, MYOB is actively reviewing the feedback and processes around this
