Knowing what customers have viewed and printed their invoice

It has become common place on my system for 99% of the invoices that I email to either show as not emailed or not viewed or not printed. At some point they must have been because they are being paid. I would like to see who has at least viewed their invoice and when or it's as though we are back to sending invoices by mail, into the abyss.
