Incorrect Conversion Year

Hi There,

I have just taken over from another Bookkeeper who attempted to set up a new MYOB file, unfortunately they set up the file with the year June 2021 instead of June 2022.

There is absolutely no option of deleting the file as there is alot of information in there so is there any other way to change the conversion date? If not, does it really matter once the Accountant completes the FY returns and moves forward?

Once a company file has been set up in AccountRight that conversion month is set and is not able to be changed. You would be looking at creating a new company file if you do need to change that date.

In saying that, you indicated that the month you want is after the month you currently have. There is no harm in that and the company file will function as per normal. It'll just mean that you could if needed, have an extra year to enter transactions into prior to the conversion month i.e. you could enter the actual sales in instead of pre-conversion sales.

The only downside would be you would be a financial year behind where you think you need to be. However, that could be resolved by closing the financial year --- File>>Close a Financial year -- follow the process and close the 2022 financial year into 2023's financial year.
