Searching for bank transaction

Good morning everyone

When Im in the bank register and I search for an amount say $1000 I get a whole lot of detail returned that I don't want. Why?

If I put the two zeroes after the decimal point, I get the correct answer

Why isn't the system smart enough to know that 1000 and 1000.00 are the same thing?

For pity's sake

    Hi Zappy,

Great question— and yes, it can be a bit puzzling at first. When you search in the Bank Register using just the initial numbers like 1000, it's designed to show anything that contains that number— so you might see $1000, $1000.50 or even $21000. It's just casting a wide net to make sure nothing gets missed. If you're after the exact amount like $1,000.00, best bet is to include the decimal point and the zeroes. Bit of a quirky one, but once you know the trick, you're good to go.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

    Best "bet"?

    Puzzling?

    It's arcane.

Doreen, it doesnt work any other way

Why if Im searching for $1000 can I not just enter $1000?

    Can we fix this please?

I wasted about a half an hour before I gave up the first time

None of the other software programs require decimal points to find a simple whole number

    For pity's sake
