Transactions Missing when Reconciling From an imported QIF or OFX in Essentials?

I am having difficulty with my bank reconciliations as data is missing when i import transaction files. This hasn't happened in the past. I have download in both QIF and OFX formats from the bank with similar or worse results between the formats. Once the files are imported, MYOB isn't seeing many of the transactions, and the first and last transaction dates are well after and before the dates that I set for the file. When checking the QIF file itself as a text file I can see that all of the transactions are listed so the issue seems to be with MYOB.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

  • Hi PulseDP,

    Thanks for the post.

From your message, it appears that the issue is not with the QIF file. If you're having difficulty locating your transactions in the Reconcile Account windows, it's possible that the transactions are either not yet created or are hidden. The Reconcile Accounts window displays ledger transactions, not QIF file transactions.

I suggest following the steps outlined in this forum post:  https://community.myob.com/t5/MYOB-Business-Banking/MYOB-transactions-source-of-data-entry-unclear/td-p/831612. Although these steps are for MYOB Business the concept is still to reconcile in an older date and undo reconciliation. These steps will reveal any hidden transactions that have already been recorded.

    • Hi and thanks for the reply,

I managed to work out that almost all of the transactions are indeed showing up when I use the find transactions  option under banking. it is still missing quit a few but a lot more are there. It's strange last time i did a rec I could import the data first. The transactions would all show up and then I could just create a spend or recieve entry against them as I went through the list. Now it appears as though I have to create each transaction manually first. I follow your suggestion and see how I go.

      Thanks Very Much

      • Okay... So I finally got there. I don't know why, but transactions weren't importing so i finally decided to try creating QIF's that covered smaller time periods, 2 months instead of 6 months, The transcactions have all imported now and I can allocate or mach as I did before. Phew... I was getting worried I was going to have to do 6 months of manual entry there for a moment.  Not sure what caused the bug.

        Thanks anyway.
