Importing Spend money transactions

Hi All

Ive been importing spend transactions for many years into Account right. No problems in the past.

Just upgraded to 2025 and imports are no longer working. Seeing some odd data when viewing the import log against -15 no postable account.  The bank account number is 111000, import log is seeing this as 3?

This is the test file in text format:

{}
Cheque AccountCheque No.DateInclusiveCo./Last NameFirst NameAddr 1 - Line 1Addr 1 - Line 2Addr 1 - Line 3Addr 1 - Line 4MemoAllocation Account No.  Amount  Job No.Tax Code
11100EFT6067/07/2023X SRO Land tax      Land Tax 672.65
 EFT6067/07/2023X      Land Tax22000391.9230: Admin N-T
 EFT6067/07/2023X      Land Tax22140120.3114: 29 Spenser N-T
 EFT6067/07/2023X      Land Tax22150160.4215: 3/1 Acland N-T

This is what import log reads:

Viewing import file in notepad shows correct data but import does not. :

Have set account number to number in excel - no difference. Have cleared local app cache in case this was the cause but problems persist. Have many hundreds of transactions to import.  Appreciate any guidance on this one.

Thanks RC

Hi rcaver , the import log now displays an internal number in place of the account number. This means the account number has been found, and has the advantage that if an account number on a long import has a typo, that log field will be blank, which helps identify the line with the incorrect number.

So the error indicates that one of the account numbers used is not a detail account. Have you checked that none of them are header accounts?

  • Hi rcaver

As Mike_James indicated, when MYOB finds the account (eg 11100) it replaces it with the recordID of that account. Note this did not happen with account 22000 - usually indicating MYOB did not find a postable account record ID. So while 1-1100 might be a postable account, I would suggest 2-2000 is not - likely a header.

    Regards

    Gavin

  • Hi Mike

Thanks for reply.  The account number 11100 is a detail account per screen shot below.  Have imported many times using same template & this account number, this new behaviour is puzzling?

I restored the company file from last years backup and get same errors on import.  The only change from last year is upgrading to 2025.2.1.  I wonder if this is the problem. Not sure if its possible to roll back AR to previous version.

  • Hi Gavin

Thanks for tip.  You are correct 22000 was a header. my mistake.  However have corrected that account number & retried import.  Same errors 15 not postable & now 19 unbalanced.  Import log & Notepad excerpts below

    Not postable sample data:

    File in Notepad:

    Unbalanced:

    File in Notepad:

Appreciate suggestions - Im getting desperate !

Hi rcaver , have you resolved this yet? If not, either post the text file you are importing (note this is a public forum) and the whole log file, or send them to me at my email address (see the datawise.co.nz home page).
