Using Cost Centres in MYOB Business

Hi,

I have some small business clients who use MYOB Business and I have recommended that they use Cost Centres to better track what is happening in their business.

I can't find any option to create cost centres in MYOB Business Online.

From what i have read they would need to use AccountRight Desktop version. Is this right?

If this is the case are the two products integrated and can they be used interchangably?

Sorry if this has been covered before but i couldn't find anything.

Hi mattcb,

Currently, there is no direct migration path from MYOB Business to MYOB AccountRight. If your clients wish to transition from MYOB Business to AccountRight, they would need to move from Business Pro to AccountRight manually. This involves exporting data from MYOB Business and importing it into AccountRight.

Regarding the future availability of this feature in MYOB Business Online, we do not have information on whether it will be added in the near future. You can post a suggestion to our product Ideas page, this way other users can vote on it and it might be included in a future update. MYOB Business Ideas Exchange

Hi mattcb,

Currently, it is not possible to create cost centres in MYOB Business. Cost centre tracking is a feature available in the MYOB AccountRight Desktop version.

Additionally, MYOB Business(Browser) and AccountRight Desktop are not integrated in a way that allows them to be used interchangeably. If your clients need to use cost centres, they would need to use the AccountRight Desktop version.

Ok. That's quite a significant limitation. Is this likely to change in the near future?
Can you point me to some guidance on how to transition to AccountRight from MYOB Business if this is the direction they want to go?

Hi Matt,

In MYOB Business, the direct feature called Cost Centres doesn’t exist like it does in MYOB AccountRight. However, you can track costs by department, location, or project using a workaround of ‘Job Tracking (Job)’. You can enable the same through the navigation path MYOB Business > Settings > Business Settings > Jobs

If you still wish to use the ‘Cost Centre’ feature, you will have to migrate to MYOB AccountRight Desktop version.
