2 years missing

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community Forum. 

I'm sorry to hear about the confusion in your file. Generally, if the company information shows the current year as for a past financial year, the file was not rolled over. Also, reports generally give options to show information for the current, previous, and next financial year. 

May I clarify what we are trying to achieve? Also, screenshots of the issue would be much appreciated.

I understand your reasoning, however, I am talking about 2 years ago, not the previous year. I have been using MYOB for 15 or more years, so I know about financial year rollovers being a possible cause. The previous time I used the software was in June 2023 when I brought all my financial information up to date so that I would only have a few entries to carry out before winding up the year. When I started up Account Right to complete the year's work, there was a MYOB message about validating the file. It stopped me from opening the program. A call to MYOB and an emailed licence file resulted in what I said previously. The years 2020/21 and 2021/22 have all been completed at the appropriate times. The current year was set at June 2023. I've thought that a possible solution maybe to rollover the current "incorrect" year to 2022 and thence to 2023. I am unsure that if I do that, will I still have all my work from the 2022/23 year on the program?

Hi Bazzaboy 

Most likely cause - you have opened an old copy of your file, not the most recent one. Is your file online or local or both?

Hi Gavin, thanks for your interest. My software is on my laptop only and has never been online. I purchased the software some 6 years ago.

The software itself does not and cannot remove any data. So check if the most recenly entered data is in the file. If yes make a backup and roll to FY 2023. If not look at other files in your MYOB Library until you find the right one. FYI ignore the last modified dates when looking at MYOB files, these are misleading.

Hi Gavin

Cannot locate any data files on software. Tried My Library on first page when opening up, but nothing else there besides the 2021 roll-over balance sheet. I still feel that it has something to do with the licence provided by MYOB (by email) when I couldn't validate my software. I have now rolled-over the 2 years between the 2021 year and the 2023 year, so that I am in the correct year, however there is no data processed by me whatsoever, apart from 3 entries from yesterday.

I'm not comfortable supplying you with our balance sheets. Perhaps if you tell me why it is necessary that you see them?

I'm sorry to hear about the persisting issue. Ledger data could only be affected by user input, a license file does not affect anything in the ledger.

If the file's company information shows the current financial year as 2024 and we ran the balance sheet report in 2023-2024, the values for total equity and net assets do match. This means that the file would need to go through repair. Hence, I ask for the balance sheet report. 

Also, I would suggest checking the library by clicking the "Open a company file" to see if there are other copies of the company file as suggested by gavin12345.

Firstly there are no other copies of the company files that I can see (as suggested by Gavin). Secondly, I cannot locate any data whatsoever in the program. In my opinion it would serve no purpose supplying you with a screen shot of the balance sheet as the figures on the balance sheet are the end of year figures of 2 to 3 years ago. I have now rolled over the year to ending June 2023. I cannot finish off the year 22/23 as there is no data from that year to work from.
