Thank you for your post. When you create an invoice and put a value under backorder, it automatically creates a sales order for whatever items you listed as wanting to backorder.
As this is an automated process, not a copy of your invoice, it will not copy all of the information from the invoice in to the sales order, it will only copy the items you marked for backorder.
If you wanted a copy of all the details in a sale, then you would be looking at creating a Recurring Transaction.
