Calculating Long Service Leave

Hi Could someone please let me know how to find out how much Long Service Leave is owed to an employee?

I have set him up so that Long Service Leave and Long Service Leave Accrual shows up on his payslip.  I am not sure how to find out the number or hours to go in Entitlements on his payslip to pay him.  When I pull up Reports/Payroll/Entitlements, only sick leave is showing, not Long Service Leave.  I have rung Myob help desk twice only to receive VERY poor service, and one lady didn't even know what Long Service Leave was.

  • Hi DC5

Thanks for your post. Long service leave accrual and requirements are different in each state. As such, you do need to check with the relevant department in your state for the accrual rates.

Looking at the account linked to your Forum log in you'd need to go to Business Victoria: Long service leave, which has a great calculator to help you work out the accrual rate.

Once you know the rate I'll be happy to assist with setting this up in your software.

Please let me know if you need further help.

Thanks Tracey.  The Business Victoria website calculates13.8 weeks, which times 38 hours comes to 524.40 hours.

Could you let me know what to do now please? I have set up the LSL and LSL accrual so they appear on his payslip.

    Thank you

    Dianne

    Hi Dianne

Once you know how much the employee needs to accrue you'll need to work out the calculation basis and enter this in the LSL entitlement payroll category.

If the employee is already entitled to LSL you'll also need to enter the leave balance in the employee card>>Entitlements.

The Help Article, Long Service Leave, has detailed instructions for setting up and paying LSL.

Please let me know if you need further help.
