Salary Sacrifice Deduction Exempt from Super Guarantee

I am setting up a salary sacrifice deduction for accommodation. We have been advised by our tax agent that super guarantee only applies to the net salary (i.e. gross salary less this salary sacrifice deduction). Therefore I need to know how to exempt super on the deduction side such that super guarantee is only applied to the net salary. Is there any way of doing this in MYOB to avoid manual changes to payroll?

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum.

Super guarantee is only applied for net salary. And I understand that you want to know on how to exempt super on deduction, Here is the steps on how to prevent super accruing on a wage category. To do this, Go to Payroll command centre and click on Payroll Categories>> click the Superannuation tab then click the zoom arrow next to the Superannuation guarantee category>>Click Exempt.

    Hi Cel,

Thank you for your response, however unfortunately it's not that simple. Essentially the net salary consists of the salary (wage category in MYOB) and the salary sacrifice deduction (deduction category in MYOB). The net of these is what super guarantee needs to be applied to. For example, if the weekly salary is $1,100 and the salary sacrifice is $100, the super guarantee needs to be ($1,100 - $100) x 11% = $110. However, in the typical setup in MYOB, the salary has super guarantee applied of $1,100 x 11% = $121, and the deduction payroll category has no effect on the super. If there was a way to apply super on the deduction side (and effectly apply -$100 x 11% = -$11 and reduce the $121 down to the desired $110, that is the result I need. I just can't see how I set this up in MYOB. Surely there is a way to do this, salary sacrifice is a common practice?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
