It's just my imagation right?

Is it my imagination or is MYOB just getting worse with every iteration?

Who thought that having to launch a browser to authenticate credentials for a desktop app was a good idea.  Oh yeh, I forgot, Microsoft. Why though, does that need to be emulated in MYOB? You get our subscription $'s every month so leave the login alone. Better yet give me the ability to...... EMAIL RECEIPTS!!!!!

    Hi HmmmReally

whilst you're putting suggestions out there how about showing the ABN icon on customer cards removing the necessity to check card details to see if their ABN number's been entered.  If it's good enough for creditors cards why can't it be incorporated on debtors cards too

I appreciate the explanation and I certainly understand the security and convenience advantages of modern SSO authentication.

However, I think many users were frustrated less by SSO itself, and more by the fact that the authentication architecture changed significantly without clear communication beforehand.

In our environment, the new sign-on process introduced dependencies on:

    • the Windows default browser,
    • WebView/browser components,

That resulted in previously stable MYOB installations suddenly failing authentication overnight until we identified the browser dependency.

Once a supported default browser was restored, MYOB immediately began authenticating correctly again.

I also think this highlights a broader frustration some long-term MYOB users have experienced over the years. Since the advent of email itself, customers have been requesting the ability to email customer payment receipts directly from MYOB, yet to this day this basic functionality still does not exist.

So from a user perspective, it can sometimes feel like:

    • major platform and authentication changes are introduced rapidly,
      while
    • long-standing practical workflow requests remain unresolved for years.

I absolutely support modern security practices, but clearer communication, better technical guidance, and continued focus on practical accounting workflow improvements would go a long way with the MYOB community.

I really dislike the fact that for my desktop app it has to take me to an online browser to authenticate. It is a step that really isnt needed, creating open tabs and clicking back. There are so many more things MYOB could do that would be beneficial and this is not one of them.

    Good morning HmmmReally ,

There have been a lot of customers who were actually disappointed when we last had to disable the new single sign-on (SSO) experience.

The sign-on process will now pre-fill your email address to save you time and will also work with your preferred password manager.
Although it feels a little different by launching browser to complete the sign-on process, it is an easier process now for customers.

The other major benefit, is that you no longer need to sign in again when moving between desktop and browser. A lot of customers will use both and previously had to sign in on each, but now you can transfer between desktop and browser effortlessly.

Using AccountRight browser for authentication also provides modern security and removes compatibility risks associated with desktop software.
