MYOB accountright not starting

Hi There, I am trying to login in accountright app on the windows. And then as soon as I try to login, webpage opens up, I do the login there and then it says yo can close the webpage and go back to the application. But the application doesnt open. I have tried everything, restarting the computer and everything.

  • I fixed this by renaming:

     

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\myob-arl to myob-arl.old

     

    Problem was that MYOB version number wasn't updating in this particular key in HKCU.

     

    Don't change the one in HKLM or HKCR.

    2026.2 by the way the one that is supposed to f******* work. Holy I am mad. You guys need to justify that sub RIGHT NOW.

    Please check that you're on the latest version as we updated AccountRight to version 2026.2 yesterday.
    If you have the latest version, try closing and re-opening AccountRight before signing in. 
    If your file is online, you will have the new SSO experience, make sure to tick 'always allow' so that you are redirected to the browser sign in. Check out this thread for more information!

    I've had the same issues.  So does this mean that since the upgrade yesterday, it will always launch in a browser tab and we have to go through that process every time?  Seems ridiculous.  Why can't it launch the same way it always had?  With all the internet scams and problems these days, seeing something different is just setting off alarm bells to me?

    Hello everyone,
    There is a new Single Sign On experience on ARL. If you are are not seeing the "open Accountright" modal when login in  (screenshot below), please download the lates version of ARL here

    This will make sure your version is correct and the new login will work normally.

    For more about this fucntionality and its benefits check them here, it includes single sign between broswer and desktop, password manager compatibility and more.

  • Really don't like the direction MYOB is heading.

     

    The account right application now on log in opens up seperate web browser window to sign in and loads a seperate interface thereafter, even on closing the ap. Why do I need a seperate window to open up telling me after I have closed the ap, that I can now close the window..... Extra slow today as well.  It  is becoming more and more cumbersome to log in and out

    SURELY - the registry changes noted above by ntaylor are not to be undertaken by users..... ???  I tried them and they DO NOT WORK....

    AccountRight Desktop seems to be working now lol I didn't even touch anything. There you go folks just complain really loudly. One thing I did change try right click desktop icon windows compatibility tab "Run this program as an administrator". Also not sure if being logged in my.myob also helped. Just thinking of you payroll guys. Good luck all.

  • I had the same issue yesterday. After a few attempts trying to login, I accidentally clicked on an older AccountRight version and was asked to update to version 26.2 which I did and then tried to login again. After putting through the login details on the browser login page thinking "here we go again", lo and behold it actually worked. The browser automatically closed and the desktop loaded as the message suggests. Doesn't sound like an official solution but it had worked for me.
