For a number of years the GL did not balance by the amount of the Retained Earnings. Then you fixed it. Fantastic! This year it appears to be out of balance again - 2025 was correct, 2026 does not...

Those reported values being out of balance by the retained earnings amount do look a bit odd. The GL should balance, and you shouldn’t have to second-guess it.
There is a quirk, though, where if you run the GL or trial balance into a future financial year, the report can show as out of balance even when the file itself is fine. If you keep those reports to the current financial year or the previous one, they should balance. So if 2025 is fine and only 2026 is out by retained earnings, it’s almost always that future year reporting issue rather than anything you’ve done wrong.

Thanks Genreve. So I have the date range from 1/4/25 - 31/3/26 - our financial year. I have found this morning that if I create a report by using the default for all accounts, it balances. However, if I select all accounts, then untick "Show Inactive Accounts" it is out of balance by the value of the Retained earnings. I have attached screenshot. I have checked that all accounts have been selected including Retained Earnings. It seems this may just be a glitch in the system. Additionally, it seems it's only a problem in the General Ledger [Detail] report.
