Can't balance an account

My Electronic Clearing Account has an old discrepancy that means it always is .01c out.   Up until recently, I've been able to reconcile the account with the closing balance of -.01c.  Happy days. ...

    For me to check on other possible reasons for this issue, please send me a private message containing the following. 

    • Serial number 
    • Full name and email address
    • Company name 
    • Company File ID (Help > About MYOB AccountRight)

Hi Genreve

 

Attached is a copy of the recon screen.

 

The original transaction is from years ago.  Before my time.

 

I used to be able to reconcile the account with the .01c difference.  It took a few goes.  I had to close out of the screen and change the total and it worked but I haven't been able to reconcile for the last 12 months.

 

Now, no matter what I do, it won't reconcile so I've left it as is for the last year.

Thanks for your response and the added screenshot. 

 

Generally, the system is not supposed to allow you to reconcile if the values are not balanced. We usually need to find what is causing the out-of-balance before reconciling it. We could try reconciling on a future date and see if fixes the issue. (i.e. reconciling on 31/12/9998 by copying the calculated balance to the statement balance and then reconciling it. then undoing it)

 

If this does not fix the issue, I would recommend undoing all reconciliation until we find what's causing the issue and redo all reconciliation past that. I know this is a lot of work but we need to first find the origin of the out of balance to fix it.

    It is balanced though, isn't it?

     

    As per the attached, the Closing balance matches the calculated statement balance but it still says there is a .01c difference.

      Thanks for the response and the added information with the screenshot. 

       

      Have we tried reconciling the amounts to either a $0 or a $0.01 statement balance? Another fix we could try is ticking random transactions and entering the closing bank statement balance and seeing if doing this multiple times would remove the out-of-balance. 

       

      Also, I would still recommend trying to reconcile on a future date. Here are the steps to follow. 

      1. Banking > Reconcile accounts.
      2. Choose the bank account.
      3. input bank statement date (31/12/9998).
      4. Copy the Calculated Statement Balance to the Closing Statement Balance. 
      5. Click the button Reconcile.
      6. Click undo reconciliation.

        Hi Genreve

         

        Sorry it took me so long to respond.

         

        I've tried reconciling to $0, $0.01, -$0.01, with the dollar sign, without the dollar sign... everything I can think of but with no luck.  Despite the fact the cleared deposits and the cleared withdrawals are the same amount, it won't reconcile.

         

        I also tried reconciling with the date in the future.  9998 - it read as 1998 (before the previously reconciled date).  The latest date I could check is 31/12/2029.  I tried all of the above options with this date and it still wouldn't let me reconcile.

         

        Any other ideas I can try?
