An update has been posted to the status page, it ultimately says that we are still working on it though.
From what I have found speaking to the team, it sounds like we are having a script run to remove duplicates now, but I dont know how long the script will take to complete to provide an ETA.
The fix is in progress though which is good news.
Status hub will be updated once the fix has been completed
