Hi HelenJ49,
Bringing two company files together is a sizeable tidy-up, and the tricky bit is that AccountRight treats historical sales differently from ordinary sales imports. If you’re bringing across unpaid invoices that existed before the destination file’s conversion date, use these steps:
- Go to Setup > Balances > Customer Balances.
- Select Add Pre-Conversion Sale.
This option is designed for opening balances, not for importing a complete sales history, and pre-conversion sales won’t generate BAS/GST figures. For sales dated on or after the destination file’s conversion month, use these steps:
- Go to File > Import/Export Assistant.
- Select Import data.
- Choose Sales.
Make sure the relevant customer cards, items and tax codes already exist, and use a sales export or sample-company template to format the import file. If the sales you need to bring across are dated before the 2017 conversion month, AccountRight won’t allow them to be entered into this existing file, and the conversion month can’t be changed. In that situation, you may need to keep the original company file for the older history and bring across opening balances or summary information agreed with your accountant.
