Account not reconciling

Hi,

I have run into an issue where MYOB's displayed calculated balance is wrong. I have checked the entries line by line with the bank statement. It displays the correct deposit and withdrawal values when I press 'reconcile', but the wrong calculated total.

Help would be appreciated, thank you.

I opened the file in windows (NOT the browser) and there it showed that the last reconcilliation date was later than the browser.

When I undid the reconcilliations in Windows I was able to sort things out.

At least thats what I think was how i managed to fix it.

In AccountRight online I have run into an issue where my GST Collected account reconciles to zero on 30/6/2024 but there is an amount showing in the balance sheet report for the same date. Sounds like a similar problem. Is there a way to check for data corruption?

    Hi Ella4,

The calculated balance can go off if there are hidden transactions lurking about. Since it displays the correct deposit and withdrawal values when you reconcile, I would recommend running the reconciliation up to a future date by following the steps below.

    Input Bank Statement Date: 31/12/9998

    • Copy the calculated statement balance to the closing statement balance form box.
    • Click Reconcile.
    • Undo reconciliation.

That usually help things get back in shape!

    Cheers,
    Shella

    Hi kirsten,

This one can be a bit tricky to nail down! I’d start by double-checking the dates on both reports, easy to miss but can make all the difference. If your dates are spot on and you’re still seeing that GST collected account zero shows up, it is best to reach our team via our virtual assistant, MOCA so we can dig in a bit further for you.

    Cheers,

    Shella

    Hi Shella_A

Thank you for the reply, I tried that and unfortunately the balance is wrong, is there anything else I can try?

    Kind regards,

    Ella
