Long description needs to display on interface and be searchable. A large inventory is not suitable to current Business Pro capabilities.

You’re not doing anything wrong. Right now, the Long description just isn’t shown on the main Products & Services screen, and it also isn’t part of the search there. The search is basically only looking at things like the item ID and name.
At this stage, there really isn’t a proper in‑product workaround for a big catalogue that relies on long descriptions – it’s just a current limitation in MYOB Business Pro. The only thing that can really help is making sure any key search terms you rely on also live in the item name or ID.
If this is a must‑have for your business, the best next step is to pop it on our Ideas board for MYOB Business so other users can vote on it and the product team can factor it into future updates.
