Sick Leave
If an employee's sick leave entitlement is added in the middle of the pay period and they
were sick in the week before it become available, are they entitled to use the sick leave?

Thanks for your question. It really depends on your setup and how your leave policy works. In most payroll setups, leave can only be used from the date it accrues or becomes available. That means the employee usually wouldn’t be able to use it for days they were already sick before the leave became available. That said, it’s best to check with your payroll advisor or accountant to make sure the entitlement rules apply correctly for your employee.
