Hi Kaye_H, barlowh, and PP5
It’s disappointing that users are prevented from generating a detailed employee report. This appears to be a deliberate restriction that discourages users from easily collating their own corporate data, particularly if they’re considering a transition away from the platform.
As a workaround, I’ve found that the Pay Item Transactions Report offers somewhat of a solution:
- Generate the report for your most recent payroll date. This will ensure only one entry per employee.
- In Customise, add the following fields: Employee, Card ID, Address, TFN, and Phone. (Default columns can't be removed and Email is not an option.)
- Drag these fields to the top of the list to ensure they appear first in the report.
- Refresh the report and click Expand All.
- Export to Excel and remove any irrelevant columns manually.
Note: This method will only capture employees included in the last payroll run. For casuals or staff who work irregularly, extend the date range to capture a broader period, repeat the steps above, and use Remove Duplicates in Excel to clean the list. This should give you a more complete employee contact list.
Additionally, it may be worth exploring other platforms dedicated to employee attendance and payroll processing. There are a heap on the webbernet, such as Deputy, Tanda, or Employment Hero. These systems integrate with MYOB and, while they may cost a bit more, they provide significantly more flexibility and efficiency across onboarding, timesheets, and payroll.
Hope this helps!
P.S. Regarding the Ideas Exchange — I wouldn’t rely on it. From what I’ve heard, feedback isn’t actively monitored. There are several posts requesting an employee report, including one from Kaye_H over two years ago that has significant number of views.

Hi Kaye_H,
Thank you for your post.
Currently, in MYOB Business, you can generate a contact report by selecting the employee's name from the contact list and exporting it to Excel or PDF. This report includes phone numbers, email addresses, status, and balance. However, it does not include employee TFNs and superfund details. Kindly refer to this Help article: Business Reports.
If you would like to generate a contact report to have additional information beyond what is currently available, we encourage you to post your ideas on our Product Ideas board for our developers' review and consideration. Your input is valuable in helping us enhance our system to better meet your needs.
Please feel free to start a new post if you need help in the future. We're here to help.Cheers,

That sounds great - EXCEPT that Employees is not an option in the Contact reports listing. Under Contact type you havce a choice of: All, Customer, Supplier or Personal. :(

Hi Kaye_H,
Thank you for your response.
I understand your concern. Currently, the "Employees" category is not available in the Contact Reports listing. However, you can still retrieve information about employees by selecting their names from the contact list and then exporting the details. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Click on the contact to choose the employee's name. Please see the attached image below:

Hi Princess
I would be happy to do that if the employees were in the Contacts list for me to export the details. I have checked several MYOB Business files, and none of them have the employees in the Contacts listing.............

I have the same issue. Seems while this was raised 2 years ago there still isn't a solution to extract Employee data from MYOB Business?
- Doreen_P10 months agoMYOB Moderator
Hi barlowh,
Given that the issue was raised 2 years ago, it's understandable that you'd expect a resolution by now. This is especially true with the ongoing concern around extracting employee data from MYOB Business. Exporting employee data remains a limitation. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Cheers,
Doreen

Is an employee listing report with all details available yet??
- Genreve_S7 months agoMYOB Moderator
Hi PP5,
There's no report yet that digs into employee details. I had a look around and couldn’t spot anything similar on the Ideas Exchange board either. The best way forward would be to pop your suggestion there, once it’s on the Ideas Exchange, others can vote for it, which might help get it added down the track.
Regards,
Genreve
