The Contact ID is a reference point that can be added to a contact's card. Typically, you would store an internal reference or account ID number for that card. This value can be seen in the Contact record of the contact and within some reports, it also can be used as a matching point for contacts when imported.
Please note: That the Contact ID is an optional field when creating a contact record.
