Hi ORL - regarding adherence to the guidelines, the surcharging ban set by ACCC is in relation to 'Excessive' surcharging. Overall the rule is that "the surcharge must not be more than what it costs the business to use that payment type". Because the fee of 1.8% + 25c is what it costs the business, there is no excess. If for example, there was an ability to surcharge greater than what is charged to the business, lets say 2.5% + 25cents, then this would be against the ACCC ban as it is excessive/higher than the cost to the business.
