Hi Mike_MYOB, I realise that you were trying to point out that the Business Verification is 'super simple', but comparing MYOB's Business Verification/Signup for Secure Payments, to 'Showing ID a the bottle shop or showing ID at the movies' is bound to receive some criticism.
My other comment was about storage not 'mining'. You have repeatedly said that the Customer data collected is not stored, and directed us to read Privacy Policies from MYOB and FrankieOne. Well I actually did that. Not only does MYOB and FrankieOne say they store the data, it may well end up being shared with third parties in New Zealand, the Phillipines and America, who aren't required to abide by Australian Privacy Laws (This is MYOB's own Privacy Policy).
I'm also pointing out that the Business Verification is not a simple process, and during the process of Verifying my Business, I need to provide Bank details and a direct debit authority.
This is the problem I have with MYOB's Business Verification;
MYOB has no legal basis to request sensitive data to be sent to FrankieOne for verification. As the reason provided is for Verification being required is 'to prevent invoicing fraud'.
MYOB does however have a legal reason for requesting documents for Verification (and also direct debit permissions) if a user wants to accept payments through MYOB's Secure Payment Portal.
Many users (including myself) feel that we are being forced or tricked into using the Secure Payments, which we don't want, and need to opt out of later, while leaving in place an open direct debit agreement.
The secure invoicing and payment system may well be better and faster, but for alot of us, we simply don't want it forced on us, even if it's for our own good.
