Lodging a case with AFCA doesn't grant you an exemption. Lodging a case with AFCA is your right if you believe MYOB are not compliant as a financial service (which in my case, and that of my legal advisor, is the case). My experience was that within 16 minutes of lodging the case, MYOB contacted me and offered me a full exemption. I do not believe they were compelled by AFCA to do so, however my opinion is that they either are very keen to avoid AFCA looking too hard at their tactics, or that the "industry charge" by AFCA is significant enough that they want the case closed ASAP to avoid the costs (or potentially both!). In either case, it was the only way I got any satisfaction from MYOB despite attempting to resolve it directly with them for many months.
The moderator has removed further posts on this thread due to it being perceived as "misrepresenting MYOB". It is my opinion, after having private chat with the moderator, that they want the information removed because it challenges their (very dubious) intent.
I implore everybody who is dissatisfied with MYOB's stance on their secure invoicing system to make a complaint to AFCA, and ideally take their business elsewhere. There are several superior products at a comparable price and so long as THEY don't start to gamble with their customers' private information they are a better option in my opinion.
