Why is it impossible to change the tax code in the chart of accounts?

    Hi Dingley,

     

    Thanks for your question. There are actually two reasons why you might be locked out of changing that default tax code. First, it could be your user role, only Accountants or Administrators can make these edits. Second, it happens if your business is set up as not registered for GST. 

     

    If you have admin access, you can try this quick trick:

    • Temporarily switch your business setting to Registered for GST
    • Open up the categories you want to fix and change the tax code to N-T (make sure to save each one)
    • Once you're done, just head back to your business settings and flip it back to Not registered for GST
