It seems that we have no choice but to also lodge a case with AFCA, to gain a full exemption from the secure invoicing requirement, as others have done. Ridiculous that we have to go to these lengths to send emails from our accounting programme!!!!
How do you lodge a case with AFCA to get an exemption from this stupid system??
After lodging a case with AFCA I have since been exempt from secure invoicing and I can send email invoices again.
Can you let me know how you lodged the case? I went on there to do so but I would like to make sure it is right. We have over 30 files with MYOB - and the majority are active with multiple invoices daily - we had an extension to Dec but now we are locked out. It is a nightmare - we did try to comply but all the entities have different structures and owners so it was logistically going to be very expensive time wise let alone anything else. Lodging a case with AFCA doesn't grant you an exemption. Lodging a case with AFCA is your right if you believe MYOB are not compliant as a financial service (which in my case, and that of my legal advisor, is the case). My experience was that within 16 minutes of lodging the case, MYOB contacted me and offered me a full exemption. I do not believe they were compelled by AFCA to do so, however my opinion is that they either are very keen to avoid AFCA looking too hard at their tactics, or that the "industry charge" by AFCA is significant enough that they want the case closed ASAP to avoid the costs (or potentially both!). In either case, it was the only way I got any satisfaction from MYOB despite attempting to resolve it directly with them for many months.
The moderator has removed further posts on this thread due to it being perceived as "misrepresenting MYOB". It is my opinion, after having private chat with the moderator, that they want the information removed because it challenges their (very dubious) intent.
I implore everybody who is dissatisfied with MYOB's stance on their secure invoicing system to make a complaint to AFCA, and ideally take their business elsewhere. There are several superior products at a comparable price and so long as THEY don't start to gamble with their customers' private information they are a better option in my opinion.
Hi LisaL2, If are unhappy and want to complain to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, you would first need to show that you have complained directly to the financial institution, if you have used the financial institution's complaints process and not received satisfaction, the next step is to go to the AFCA website, start a new complaint, choose the financial institution you wish to complain about and write a description of your complaint. The AFCA will then refer the complaint to the financial institution who will then contact you with their decision/remedy. Once you are satisfied with the outcome, the complaint will be closed.
I would really like to thank other users in this forum who have shared their experiences in attaining an exemption from business verification, your advice and experiences have been extremely helpful in helping me acheive a good result after many months of frustration.
I would like to refer to Mike_MYOB's recent comment about the rarity of 'Exemptions'
Although Mike does not have that information, he still says that exemptions are rare, however I can understand why this may be true (from my own experience).
MYOB has a large customer base - when advised of the need to Verify a Business, the Customer has the following options.
1 Comply immediately, go throught the Verification process without question
2 Change to another software provider - many have threatened to, or actually done this
3 Complain to MYOB - Result, No Exemption
4 Raise a support case With MYOB - Result, No Exemption
5 Complain to the ACCC - Result, No Exemption
6 Complain on the Community Forum - Result, No Exemption
7 Complain to AFCA - Result, EXEMPTION (everyone who has stated that they complained to the AFCA has received an exemption).
If you do not want to use MYOB Secure Payments or go through the Business Verification Process but still want to continue to use MYOB for your accounting/invoicing, it seems the ONLY way to receive an exemption is to use option 7, but please note, you should first go through MYOB's complaint process. Hopefully one day soon MYOB will see the value in a happy loyal Customer base.
