Business has been sold....now what

Hi

We sold our business back in April 2026.  We are awaiting the accountant to finalise the last bits, which may go into next financial year.

We are disappointed we can no longer have the file offline, and that causes us issues re keeping records for 5 years.

We dont want to keep paying the $165 per month either. As we are not using it to run the business anymore, just for finalisation purposes. Is there another option?

Can you please advise the process.

    Hi ActiveMR,

Thanks for explaining. I’m sorry to hear that keeping the file online is causing issues, especially when you’re only waiting for your accountant to finish up and don’t want to keep paying $165 a month. If you’re using AccountRight and still have a backup of your file, you can open it in an earlier version of AccountRight in read-only mode for auditing purposes. If you’re using MYOB Business, you can still use reports you exported before cancelling. However, once your subscription has been cancelled for 90 days, you won’t be able to reopen the business in MYOB Business, and it will no longer be available there.

Before cancelling, make sure you’ve saved the records and reports you’ll need for the five-year retention period.

    Regards,

    Sai
